SKIN TAGS

Skin Tags (scientifically called acrochordons) are small, soft, benign growths that hang off the skin by a thin stalk called a peduncle. They are made up of loose collagen fibers, blood vessels, and skin tissue and often develop in areas where the skin folds or rubs against itself.

WHAT CAUSES THIS?

Friction

Skin tags often form in areas where there is consistent friction or rubbing of skin against skin or clothing. This repeated friction can cause the skin to fold and trap collagen and blood vessels, leading to the formation of a skin tag.

Medication

Skin tags are linked to medical conditions like insulin resistance, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. These conditions may increase growth factors and hormonal changes that stimulate skin tag formation, making them a possible indicator of underlying metabolic imbalances.

Genetics

A family history of skin tags can increase your likelihood of developing them. This genetic predisposition means that if close relatives like parents or siblings have skin tags, you may be more susceptible to forming them as well.

Age and Weight

Skin tags are common in middle-aged and overweight individuals due to increased friction from skin folds and age-related changes. Aging reduces skin elasticity, while excess weight creates more areas prone to rubbing. Insulin resistance, often linked to obesity, may also contribute to their formation. Maintaining a healthy weight can help reduce the risk.

How to Treat?

Plasma Pen

Plasma Pen treatment is an effective and non-invasive solution for removing skin tags. Using controlled plasma energy, the device targets the skin tag, causing it to shrink and eventually fall off without harming surrounding tissue. This process promotes the body's natural healing response, encouraging collagen production, which can improve skin texture. The treatment is precise, making it ideal for sensitive areas such as the eyelids, neck, or underarms. It’s quick, relatively painless, and requires minimal downtime, with only mild redness and swelling as side effects. Plasma Pen is a popular option for those seeking a safe, effective way to remove skin tags without surgery.
